Volunteers should be treated with dignity, respect and worth
Volunteering should respect the rights, dignity and culture of others
Everyone should have an equal opportunity to volunteer in their community
Volunteering is a two-way relationship which benefits both the volunteer and organisation
Volunteering is always a matter of choice and is done of the volunteers’ own free will.
Volunteering benefits the community, society and the volunteer and fosters a sense of connectedness with the local community.
Volunteering is a legitimate way for citizens to participate in the activities of their community
Volunteering is a means for people to address human, environmental and social needs and is undertaken without financial reward

Equal Opportunities
We commit ourselves to equality of opportunity for all. We recognise that in our society certain individuals and groups of people are unfairly discriminated against, both directly and indirectly.
Kilkenny Volunteer Centre strives to eliminate all such forms of discrimination and to create a climate in which equal opportunities are promoted as a means of developing the full potential of everyone who is involved with our organisation. We do this by fulfilling our legal obligations and by taking positive action which goes beyond the requirements of the law, by avoiding stereotyping and tokenism.
