Kilkenny Volunteer Centre was absolutely thrilled to win a national Good Governance Award on Thursday 16^th November in Chartered Accountants House Dublin.

Now in its 8th year, the Good Governance Awards is an initiative that recognises and encourages adherence to good governance practice and transparency by nonprofits across Ireland. 

The awards were developed by Carmichael with the support of key partners including leading bodies from the legal, financial and nonprofit sector such as Department of Rural and Community Development, Mazars, Chartered Accountants Ireland, Pobal, the Wheel and Sport Ireland to name but a few.

This year, 134 non-profit organisations entered their annual reports and financial statements into the awards to be assessed by the expert panel of judges under the criteria of transparency, governance, strategy, and financial information. 

On the night, Kilkenny Volunteer Centre was subsequently announced as the overall winner of Category 2 which recognises non-profits with an annual turnover of €100-250K.

1. Organisations with annual turnover < €100,000  –    NITELINE                        
2. Organisations with annual turnover €100,000 – €250,000   –   KILKENNY VOLUNTEER CENTRE      
3. Organisations with annual turnover €250,000 – €750,000   –   SPRAOI AGUS SPORT   
4. Organisations with annual turnover €750,000 – €2.5 million   –  LEAVE NO TRACE   
5. Organisations with annual turnover €2.5  – €10 million   –   BARRETSTOWN        
6. Organisations with annual turnover €10 – €50 million   –   JIGSAW          
7. Organisations with annual turnover > €50 million   –  TROCAIRE
