Kilkenny Volunteer Centre is thrilled to support Amber Women’s Refuge One Million Stars Project.
Throughout October and November, the centre hosted weekly “Star Jams” where volunteers from all walks of life came together in solidarity to weave beautiful stars for Amber’s new star installation in the Craft Yard in Kilkenny, just in time for Yulefest.
Over the course of the last 7 weeks, Kilkenny Volunteer Centre volunteers weaved a staggering 1860 (and counting!) stars for the project. Strangers became friends and shared stories and laughs and helped each other to learn how to weave.
The sessions culminated on Wednesday 30th November with the Star Tying Ceremony where weavers were invited to come and tie their stars to the Selfie Star installation in Kilkenny Craft Yard.
